Vatican spokesman: Pope Benedict will not participate in the conclave to elect his successor

As everyone by now has heard the news that our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI has announced that he is resigning as Pope on February 28, 2013, I'm wondering about the prophecy of Garabandal regarding how many Popes before the Great Miracle! Any thoughts will be appreciated. Could the Warning and Miracle be at our doorstep? Come, Lord Jesus!

In the wake of this morning’s stunning news that Pope Benedict XVI will step down at the end of this month, the director of the Vatican Press Office, Father Federico Lombardi, SJ, offered a few details during a press briefing about the Pontiff’s move and what will follow:

Pope Benedict XVI has given his resignation freely, in accordance with Canon 332 §2 of the Code of Canon Law.

Pope Benedict XVI will not take part in the Conclave for the election of his successor. Pope Benedict XVI will move to the Papal residence in Castel Gandolfo when his resignation shall become effective.

When renovation work on the monastery of cloistered nuns inside the Vatican is complete, the Holy Father will move there for a period of prayer and reflection.

  1. Conchita said the miracle will coincide with a rare church event. I know the warning has not happened but Conchita said the time between the Warning and Miracle would be within a year of each other not one year apart - these events could be 2 days apart for all we know. Since a popes resignation has not happened in 600 years, I would if this is tied into it

    2. I sent a comment. But did not sign it as I did not know it it was important.
It was the one saying the time and date of Holy Father's announcement is a direct sign that this is the rare event in the Church.

    3. Miracle one a retirement. Miracle two a pope from the new world. They are getting it right by being willing to do things not done before. I suppose these are miracles.

  2. And even more interesting - the pope officially resigns on a Thursday at 8 PM Rome time.

  3. Mrs R, I'm curious as to why it is interesting regarding the day/time of his resignation? Please explain. Thanks!

  4. Conchita said the Miracle would also take place on a Thursday at 8 pm - I'm not saying the exact same day as she said the Miracle would be in March April or May on the feast of a Eucharistic martyr. It was just a similarity that stood out, though. I wanted to say coincidence but there are no coincidences with God I believe. I really think this is the unusual event Conchita spoke of as Joey Lomangino is on in years.

  5. To, me Holy Father's resignation coinciding with Thursday at 8:00 is a signification that this is the rare event in the Church. But this is just a guess.

Can anyone tell me where to get a Garabandal medal with the relic? I gave mine to a young family whose mother was dying of Cancer and have not found a replacement. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thank You

  6. Go to www.garabandal.com and request a relic medal. They still have some.

  7. Is this the 'little known Eucharistic Martyr" Our Lady speaks of?

  8. All those speculations are meaningless if we do not look at it true eyes of faith. This filed me with deep sorrow haw little faith is within us. Popes resignation is a fruit of human weakness that comes from doubt (lack of faith). All Church in the face of this news should have fall on its knees with prayer and offering sacrifice to pardon our Lord begging Him for strength and light of Holy Spirit to guide our Pope.
This what we see and hear on the news not just from mass media but also from Priests, Bishops and Cardinals proves haw great darkness covered all world and especially Catholic Church. All is saturated with worldly thinking without reference to God. Let us not forget that we can do nothing without Gad our human weakness has no play in the mission given us from Gad. He is Master of everything and all comes from Him and by Him, but all this require our steadfast faith.
Please dot get me wrong I don’t judge, what I say is this if someone trust the Lord immensely will never say that that his physical abilities are not capable of handling tasks given by God. If we have strong faith we will not doubt, knowing that everything is in the will of God, all things which seem impossible for us are possible for God. The best example is JP2 despite his total illness he trust Lord to the end. So what ewer is our mission is we will never be able to carry it by our self alone knowing that we are a tool in Gods hand and all that is done is thanks to Him.
Let us pray for our Pope Benedict so that he can regain his trust in God.
    God bless,

Perhaps I can give you some insight into the decision of Pope Benedict. God has always been able to write straight with crooked lines. Think of Joan of Arc and all that she did to protect France and the Church. I am made aware of the example that she set for all Catholics. But I don't think I could lead an army as she did. Why? Because the Holy Spirit spoke to Joan differently than to me. Does that make me weak? Does the Holy Spirit expect the same from me as Joan? Look at Padre Pio..Is it the fruit of human weakness that he does not follow in the steps of Joan of Arc? Probably not, because the Holy Spirit calls Padre to something different. But, no less heroic.
John Paul II heard and acted thru the Holy Spirit in a different way than Benedict. We do not know if Benedict's decision to abdicate is any less heroic than John Paul II decision to remain in office during he most profound suffering and death. That is the wonderful thing about God..he calls each of us by name. Meaning, we each have a different call and response to what we hear. JPII and Benedict, too, have a responsibility to respond to what the Holy Spirit requires of them individually.
      God Bless

    2. I would like to believe that what you say is true. But what worries me is this haw big blow it will be for those who bear heavy cross of prosecution for being catholic as well those faithful priests who defend true meaning of Sacraments and Holy Mass. Pope Benedict is for them a great support. For many of them it could tragic because his example bringing buck the Holy Spirit into the Mass celebration was their only defence. I fear that there could be something big that made Pope Benedict to make this decision. No madder how hard I try to believe the official story just does not stands up seeing Hiss strong faith and care for the Church.

I can not answer your concerns. But I can tell you what Our Lady Of Medjugorje said to Mirjana on Feb 9, 2012. "Medjugorje visionary Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo begged for prayers for Pope Benedict XVI, and said he was in special need at this time, only two days before the Pope announced his resignment.
“As your sister, and because I know everything that Our Lady is preparing us for, I beg you: Do love well. Do love your priests. Help them, pray for them, especially for our Holy Father. Especially him who needs your help very much in the times we are living now: Our help. Our prayers. Our love. Not judgments” Mirjana told about 2,000 people in Church of Saint Mary Major in Trieste, Italy, on February 9.
So, two days before his resignation Our Lady knew what was going to happen, so we can only do as she asks and pray. I believe all of your concerns will be answered in time. But love the Holy Father, very much, and pray...

    4. And that was exactly was I’m worry about, because I don’t see this care, prayer, and love for him, not in the Church or among parishioners. O God keep our Pope and all faithful priest in Your Sacred Hart Amen.

  9. I can only hope that the Garabandal apparitions are true. The world is a very evil place and people need to be humbled and brought to their knees... FAST!

Conchita has provided a lot of information about the Miracle and therein lies my concern. Why would our Blessed Mother tell Conchita that the Miracle will occur between the 8th and 16th of the month between March and May and, that it will occur on a Thursday at 8pm to coincide with the feast day of a Eucharistic Martyr and a rare event in the Catholic church? That seems like an awful lot of information when all She would have to tell Conchita is the date and time. It just doesn't make any sense.

I've also heard that she told the Pope when the Miracle is to occur. However, I'm left with the impression that she was to tell NO ONE. Unless I'm mistaken or have missed something, why would Conchita tell the Pope in violation of the instructions given to her by our Blessed Mother?

    Any thoughts?
