FRIDAY, JUNE 29, 1962:

Doctor Puncernau at the Pines with Mari-Loli, Mari-Cruz and his daughter.

TOWARDS THE "MILAGRUCU" ["Little Miracle"]

The ecclesial dimension of the Eucharist clarifies the relationship that exists, on this 29th of June, between the Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul and a voice revealing the date of the "Milagrucu" to Conchita. It was to happen on the following July 18, would consist in a Communion, this time given by the Angel to the visionary, the Host being visible to all the witnesses.

First visit of the great Catalonian neurologist, Dr. Ricardo Puncernau, to the village. As a scientist, a first-class witness, he played a fundamental role in Garabandal. He sought to understand the phenomena unfolding there, from every point of view. He died on September 18, 1984. The Blessed Virgin would reveal to Conchita that the huge amount of work of this physician "would later triumph!"
[From 'Garabandal' Book, page 138]

There's a picture of this "Little Miracle" which I will post for the July 18 entry. Check it out. It's an amazing photo, cause it was taken with a motion picture camera, using a flashlight for illumination.
Like all miracles, it takes an "act of faith" to believe in it. I wasn't there for the Resurrection of Our Lord; but I believe in it! I wasn't there for the Miracle of the spinning sun at Fatima; but I believe in it! I wasn't there for this "little miracle"; but I believe in it! Why, because of the witnesses, who testified of what they saw. The problem with the people of this generation is that if it can't be proven by science, they don't want to believe in the supernatural.
Well, science is great for earthly things, but it won't get you to Heaven. Only Faith and prayer will! Do you believe in Miracles? Yes or no?

SATURDAY, JUNE 23, 1962:

To complete the remarkable week when the two "Nights of Screams" occurred, Mari-Loli and Jacinta wrote and signed a second text:

"The Blessed Virgin told us that the world has not changed in any way: . . . few will see God; . . . the Chastisement is coming . . . The cup is filling up . . . May the good pray for the wicked . . . Be good, all of you, be very good."
[Excerpted from 'Garabandal' Book, page 137]

Very strong words of from Our Lady, relayed by the girls. Are they true? Could Mary say these things to us? I would say yes! Read some of the words She has spoken at other approved apparitions like Fatima and Akita, Japan, where Mary warns the world of coming chastisements if it does not change for the better. The world is certainly worse now than ever, what can we expect except to be chastised because of our sins. If your child puts his or her finger into a electric socket, you will yell at him or her to stop. Why, because you love your child and don't want him or her to get hurt. If he or she goes back a second time to stick their finger in the electric socket, you now smack (chastise) that child to make him or her stop so that they don't hurt or even kill themselves. So it is with Our Father in Heaven. He loves us dearly and wants all souls to be saved by the Precious Blood of Christ, but if we are hurting or killing ourselves (sin and hell) He will intervene and chastise us!

I just happen to read God's Wisdom in Psalm 37: "Do not fret because of the wicked; do not envy those who do evil," says the Lord. If you get a chance read this psalm about the wicked and what happens to those who reject God!

Our Lady, who knew the Psalms by heart, says "pray of the wicked" and that we should "be very good." Let's do that!

FRIDAY, JUNE 22, 1962:

Jacinta in ecstasy.

Feast of the Sacred Heart in Spain. For the second time, presumably, Jacinta saw Christ.

The Church, being born from the Heart of Jesus on the Cross, in the Heart of Mary, we will not be surprised that Conchita learned on June 22 that a miracle would soon be granted "  so that people might believe."   This is about the famous "Milagrucu," an answer granted by the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel to the urgent wish of the visionaries who, since June 1961, were begging, on the suggestion of the Church authorities (Santander), for a "visible sign for the world."
[Excerpted from 'Garabandal' Book, page 137]

Tremendous signs for the visionaries, who are so young and fragile, and for us to believe! Our Lady takes them from scenes of the Chastisement, visions of the Precious Blood and possibly the crucifixion, a vision of Our Lord to calm them down, and now a promise of a Miracle! And the Miracle is for us "so that people might believe." Not 'will' believe but "might" believe because we have free wills and God never forces us to worship Him or even love Him. But the Miracles are out there for those who are searching for God. And soon we will have the "Great Miracle" at Garabandal, and maybe many in this world "might" believe and be converted. I pray and hope so. How about you?

TUESDAY, JUNE 21, 1962:

In the early hours of Corpus Christi, all the witnesses and villagers went to confession and received Communion! During an apparition that same day, Mari-Loli would ask the Blessed Virgin "where this Blood that we could see falling in a chalice came from?" "It is the Blood falling from the Heart of my Son," Mary explained to her. [Excerpted from 'Garabandal' Book, page 137]

Again we find the connection to Fatima! Looking at the picture above, it shows a vision that Sister Lucia had in her convent chapel in Spain around 10 years after the apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima. Notice the Blood falling into the chalice from the wounds of Christ. Remember the scene described by St. John in his Gospel, when the soldier pierced Jesus' side with a lance and Blood and water flowed out! See the connection? And Our Lady was with St. John at the foot of the Cross witnessing all this, so She could say to Mari-Loli, "  It is the Blood falling from the Heart of My Son."   I wonder at what the young girl saw that day. Perhaps we shall never know in this life, but certainly will see it in eternity!

The girls let out cries of terror; begging their Vision: "Wait! . . .
Let them all go to confession! . . . Alas! Alas! . . ."

On the "second night of screams" (the following day, June 19, 1962), the visions of the girls were to be more terrifying than those of the previous one, and bore almost exclusively on the Chastisement. Conchita was there. The visionary fears that this Chastisement, although 'conditionally' prophesied, is inevitable. Frequently questioned on this subject, she "thinks" that after a period of amendment due to the effects of the Aviso, and also of the Miracle, the world will go back to its wayward ways. A critical response to this very serious question will be attempted in Books II and III of our trilogy.
As to the witnesses themselves, kept at some distance, they could hear the visionaries screaming and crying: their testimonies were extremely eloquent!
At the end of this ecstasy of the "second night of screams," which lasted from 10:30 pm to 2:00 am, the visionaries, and those attending, petrified, all remained praying at the cuadro until 6:00 am . . . until they could go and receive the Sacrament of Penance, attend Mass and receive Holy Communion -- except for six persons only!
(The children saw "rivers being transformed into blood, and entire crowds surrounded by flames throwing themselves into the burning waters of the sea, etc . . .")
[From 'Garabandal, Book, page 134-135]

Again this sounds similar to the visions of Fatima, where the three children saw the fires of hell and people and demons rolling around in the fires! Everybody in that town went to confession too! Just watching these children and hearing their screams would send anyone to church, even unbelievers! Of course, there is always a few Judases who will never believe no matter what appears before their eyes. I always feel so sorry for atheists, who deny God's love for humanity. Our Lady wants us to pray for them every day!

Conchita says that the Chastisement is going to come, even after God reveals Himself through the Warning and great Miracle. Well, read the Old Testament and see how many times the Jewish people abandoned God and worshiped false idols, even after He revealed Himself to them through great prodigies and miracles. Human nature is prone to evil because of Original Sin. It's called concupiscence, we would rather sin than be good. It takes God's grace to not sin through our prayers, penance, and sacrifices. We have a free will, which Almighty God respects. If we want to reject Him, He will let us, but to our own peril. That's why we Christians conform ourselves to the Divine Will and pray each day "Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven!" Let's hope that the "Era of Peace" will last a long time!!!

Ninth Day of Novena to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel:

Ninth Day
O Most Holy Mother of Mount Carmel, when asked by a saint to grant privileges to the family of Carmel, you gave assurance of your Motherly love and help to those faithful to you and to your Son.

Behold us, your children.

We glory in wearing your holy habit, which makes us members of your family of Carmel, through which we shall have your powerful protection in life, at death and even after death.

Look down with love, O Gate of Heaven, on all those now in their last agony!

Look down graciously, O Virgin, Flower of Carmel, on all those in need of help!

Look down mercifully, O Mother of our Savior, on all those who do not know that they are numbered among your children.

Look down tenderly, O Queen of All Saints, on the poor souls!

The Origins of Devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel

MONDAY, JUNE 18, 1962

Headstone honoring site of St. Michael's apparition

On the second day of the week of Corpus Christi, the solemn Feast of the Eucharistic mystery and related devotions, the Archangel St. Michael appeared to the children at the very site of the calleja, there where, one year before, he had stood for the first time. This anniversary prefigured another one, that of June 18, 1965, the day on which the angel delivered the second Message of Garabandal to Conchita.

In very impressive circumstances, Mari-Loli and Jacinta again had the vision of the ordeals of the Pre-Aviso, but also the revelation of the future Aviso and even a preview of the conditional Chastisement, although it then seemed that it is inexorably destined to happen, and that only an attitude of "sincere repentance and prayer could kind of prepare us for it." We might sum up here the words of the Blessed Virgin, as later written and signed by the two visionaries Mari-Loli and Jacinta): a very softened commentary of the scenes they had attended that night, and which proved to be much more terrifying yet than the "two nights of tears" (28th and 29th of July 1961).

All through the "events" of Garabandal, Conchita was to receive many insights on the period of the Pre-Aviso but she would be informed, as we shall see later, about the Warning as such only on January 1, 1965. This "explains" her absence on the evening of June 19, 1962.
As to Mari-Loli herself, the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel would eventually (Fall 1962) reveal to her both the year of the Aviso and the lapse of time ("less than one year") between that future extraordinary "event" and the day of the great Miracle.
[From 'Garabandal' Book, page 133-134]

These children must have been terrified at seeing these "chastisements"  that were shown them. It reminds me of the 3 children of Fatima, when they were shown the vision of hell, with demons and the damned in the fires, tossing and turning. Scary for us, imagine what goes through a child's mind when seeing these visions. And yet, God, and Our Lady did indeed show these visions to the children, at Fatima, and at Garabandal, so that we adults would "get the message" that if we don't be good, don't convert our lives, this is what will happen to us. If an adult received these visions of hell and punishment and chastisements, they would probably either not tell everything or distort the message because they either were too afraid that nobody would believe it or ashamed. Not so with children, who will pass along the message, the vision intact, not thinking of themselves or peoples feelings.
We also now know that the Warning will be followed by the great Miracle with-in the same year. The Warning will prepare the world for the Miracle, so that " all will believe!"  I can't wait. I hope I'm around to see these great supernatural events that will manifest the power of God and prove His existence!!! How about you?

Medal of the Immaculate Conception (aka Miracu...Image via Wikipedia

On this Feast, then, of the Ascension of the Lord, but also of Mary as Queen, the visionaries altered the traditional Santanderinian invocation of "Our Lady Truly Appeared ("Bien aparecida"), Queen and Mother of the Mountain."Instead they addressed her as "Our Lady Truly Appeared, Queen and Sovereign of Everything Created, pray for us." This invocation, celebrating Mary's unparalleled participation in the Kingship of her Son, was in fact the perfect echo of the patristic thought, that had already (1954) allowed Pope Pius XII to attribute this new title to the Blessed Virgin (Encyclical Letter 1955'Ad Coeli Reginam'), the successor of St. Peter relying abundantly on the very rich doctrine ad hoc contained in the Divine Revelation (Holy Scriptures and Apostolic Tradition).
rom 'Garabandal' Book, page 133]
Pope Pius XII was a great Marian Pope and had great devotion to Our Lady of Fatima! As a matter of fact, he saw the Miracle of the spinning sun, which happened on October 13, 1917, many years later in the papal gardens, while he was praying. He also consecrated the world to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I believe he will be canonized soon as a Saint!

Our Lady has so many titles! This is a new one for me: "OUR LADY TRULY APPEARED, QUEEN AND SOVEREIGN OF EVERYTHING CREATED! It makes sense, when you look at the Miraculous Medal and see the two Hearts of Jesus and Mary joined together! If Jesus , God and Creator, is our King, Mother Mary has to be Our Queen, and her Queenship extends throughout the universe! Amen to that!

The Communions given by the Angel to Conchita at the Pines, on May 16 and 26, were another proof of the extent to which, in Garabandal, there is an essential link between the Eucharist and the Priesthood.

As a complement to what has already been pointed out, may we add here that St. Simon Stock, whose Feastday falls on May 16, received the "rule of the Carmelites" in Palestine, from St. Albert of Jerusalem.

As to St. Philip Neri, whose Feast was celebrated on May 26, he founded his famous Oratory at the end of the sixteenth century; an exceptional example of Marian piety and cheerful holiness, he advocated frequent Communion, even for children, and was even so consumed body and soul, by the fire of the Holy Spirit, that after his death, physicians performing his autopsy discovered that his heart was . . . split open!

(In the church of Garabandal, one can contemplate two central themes in the apparitions: the pelican sculptured on the door of the tabernacle being one of them, the other being quite properly the lamb.)
[From 'Garabandal' Book, page 133]

It's interesting how these "Communions", given by the Angel are connected to certain Saints' Feast Day. Of course, at Garabandal, Our Lady appeared as Our Lady of Mount Carmel, holding out the Brown Scapular. St. Simon Stock was the Saint who received the revelation about the Scapular and it's many graces attached to those who wear it. I for one, wear a Brown Scapular and never take it off, even in the shower! I firmly believe in its promise that "those clothed in this Scapular will never suffer the pains of hell." Do you wear one? Why not?

I remember years ago, in a church in New York, there were these tiles with the pelican on them. I never could figure that out until one day I read about the symbolism regarding it. The pelican-in-her-piety is based on the legend that in times of famine, the mother pelican opens her breast and feeds her young on her own blood. The Church uses this to represent Christ's voluntary sacrifice of atonement; He shed his Precious Blood to save us from eternal death!
Precious Blood of Jesus, save us!

FRIDAY, MAY 4, 1962:

Will Benedict XVI go to Russia?

On that day, Mari-Loli and Conchita received new and prophetic revelations about the future tribulations of the brief yet very difficult time of the Pre-Aviso. Conchita said also during her ecstasy that "Communism will come back also in Spain." The Blessed Virgin also predicted to the visionary that"the Pope would go to Russia, to Moscow," a trip absolutely unthinkable in the political climate of the 1960's. She also added, among other important things, that "as soon as the Sovereign Pontiff would return to the Vatican, successive violent persecutions would break out here and there in Europe."These would be signs that the world, and particularly the Church (people would then believe that She will be on the point of disappearing, etc . . .), were entering into the relatively short, yet very difficult, period of the Pre-Warning.
[From 'Garabandal' Book, page 132]

Reading and commenting on this paragraph line by line, we could say that before the Warning comes, things will look really bad and hopeless around the world. Kind of like these days, yes?

Communism is back already with the anti-God and anti-Church governments around the world. We even have a communist leader in Venezuela now. And in America, it seems more and more like a socialist government is ruling now. News reports are filled with anti-Catholic articles and some judges and lawyers even want the Pope arrested because of the priest scandals! Even in England the Church is battling with the government over gay adoption rights and abortion/euthanasia.
The Pope in Russia? It could happen now, because the Russians are more open to a visit these days. The Orthodox Church leaders also see the world situation and want to work with the Roman Church to evangelize the world.

But not in the 60's. Remember the Cuban Missile crisis at that time? The world is in turmoil now and at war in many places, but it could get worse, especially with these small countries developing Atom Bombs. One thing is certain, God will intervene before we blow the world to pieces. Jesus will return and reign in our hearts as King. The Kingdom of the Divine Will will be established! Just be prepared to endure a lot of trials before Christ returns.

A Follow-up Article on the Russian Threat to the World:

21st century communism--and the Cold War's unresolved issues
By Wes Vernon

Why should we be surprised to learn of a massive Russian spy ring in the United States? The Soviet Union is gone, but...

1 — The old KGB agent who wields the power in the Russian Federation appears determined to avenge the loss of the Soviet empire. Oh, the humiliation of it all! Especially at the hands of that American "movie cowboy"!
2 — President Obama — whose administration is crawling with communists, socialists, terrorist-enabling excusers, and other extremists — apparently was well aware of the Russian spy case at the very time he and Vladimir Putin's sidekick — President Dmitry Medvedev — were chowing down American burgers across the river from the White House, but said nothing about it.

3 — Meanwhile, Islamofascist terrorist groups threaten to bring down the West in part, by slaughtering innocent Americans. 9/11 was the precursor of what lies in store. In 1986, a United Nations delegate, Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu, had just written a book
Terrorism: How the West Can Win. The Cold War was still on in '86 and that was the focus. But Netanyahu (who knew that he would eventually be Israel's prime minister?) told this writer in a radio interview that we should understand the Soviet Union had bankrolled startups and operations of some of the most vile Islamist terror groups in the world. Hezbollah today has been cited as an example.
Continue reading this article here:

“Before the cup was filling up. Now it is flowing over.”

In 1961, Our Lady said at Garabandal that “the cup (of iniquity) was already filling up.” Four years later she said it was “flowing over.” If that much could have happened in the course of only a few years, where does that leave us today more than 40 years later with the introduction of abominations that didn’t even exist (at least openly) in the 1960’s?
We have gotten to the stage where virtually every facet of human society has become corrupted to one degree or another. And the Church hasn’t been able to stem the tide against the onslaught (“So goes the Church so goes the world.). Afflicted by scandal, division, disobedience (with many unfaithful churchgoers disregarding inconvenient magisterial teaching), the Church today, with an estimated 70 percent of Catholics no longer believing in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, is in a state of deterioration. In some countries of Europe, the cradle of Roman Catholicism, the faith is even on the verge of extinction. Sunday Mass attendance in Holland is at 2.5 percent, in Belgium about 7 percent, and in France, the Church’s eldest daughter, 12 percent. It came as no surprise when one of our subscribers from Belgium recently wrote: “The situation in Europe is a disaster.” The situation here in the United States and other parts of the world is not much better.
Yet despite this dismal picture, prophecies foretell an era of peace and a new glory for the Church. However, that will not happen until after the fulfillment of devastating events. Our Lady told the visionaries at Garabandal that the Church would endure a great “tribulation” (she named it “communism”) which would entail a harrowing persecution the likes of which has never been seen before. This prophecy coincides with one made by Blessed Pius IX who said: “There will come a great sign which will fill the world with awe. But this will occur only after the triumph of a revolution during which the Church will undergo ordeals that are beyond description.”

The author of this great aggression will be Russia. Mari Loli, one of the Garabandal visionaries, said: “. . . Russia will unexpectedly and suddenly overrun and overwhelm a great part of the free world.” And Conchita’s Aunt Antonia heard the visionaries in ecstasy say: “If we don’t amend our ways, Russia will take over the whole world.” At the moment when all will seem lost, God will intervene. Fr. Joseph Brennan, O.C.S., who summarized the prophetic statements made by saints, blesseds and popes, put it this way: “They foretell a time of unprecedented and terrible confusion and suffering unlike anything ever experienced in human history. It will affect every area of human life. Everything on earth, including the earth itself, will be shaken to its core. Many institutions will never rise again though they be very ancient. Christianity will undergo its most severe test of yet. There will be many casualties, many purifications. Such confusion will reign that it will appear that Christianity has almost vanished. But then, as if to fulfill what Jesus said, ‘Unless those days be shortened no flesh shall survive,’ there will be a direct Divine intervention, both amazing and terrible, that will completely reverse the course of world events. As a result of all this there will be a turning to God that will match the apostasy from God that preceded it, with the result, as Our Lady said at Fatima, that ‘an era of peace will be granted to humanity.’ This will be a peace such as the world has never known and it will endure, apparently, for a considerable period.”

The event that will be “both amazing and terrible that will reverse the course of world events” has been called at Garabandal the “Aviso” which translates roughly in English as the Warning. You can read all about it in our FOUR PACK series devoted to Garabandal’s last four things and in our FREE Special Edition.

But the dawning of a new day for the Church will be the result of another supernatural event predicted at Garabandal-the great Miracle which Conchita said will be the greatest that Jesus will have ever performed for the world. She added that the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima will be as nothing in comparison. Our FOUR PACK gives all that is known about  this future miracle. The last event in the supernatural triduum predicted at Garabandal is the Chastisement which is conditioned on how the world responds after the Warning and Miracle. See our FOUR PACK.

The Venerable Mary of Agreda

MONDAY, APRIL 30, 1962:

Sister Luisa Maria

Mrs. Andreu in 1985 [the picture shows her behind cloister grill in full habit]. She was celebrating her ninetieth birthday. Deceased in 1991, she received many mystical graces all along her thirty years of religious life at the Convent of the great Basque city of San Sebastian, where, in 1962, she became Sister Luisa Maria, the two first names of her deceased son, Luis Maria (see August 9, 1961 message).

She had visited the Visitandine Order one month after her son's death. This choice maybe also linked to the particular devotion that Father Luis Maria had for the mystery of the Visitation. So, mysteriously enough, on this very April 30, 1962, three priests wearing the Jesuit garb appeared to Sister Luisa Maria. One of them, whom she could see full face, was smiling brightly, but did not speak to her: there was her son Luis! The other two had their backs turned to her. Was this not a prophetic vision of her other two sons Alejandro and Marcelino?
[From 'Garabandal' Book, page 131]

Well, it just goes to show you, there hope for all of us! This special mother of three priests lived till she was 96 years old, spending the last 30 years of her life in a convent as a cloistered nun. I wonder if they would take me. I'm still young at 73! I always said if my dear wife passed away before me, I would enter some monastery somewhere! The only problem is finding a group of monks who will have me. Maybe, I'll have to start a new order of Monks. We could call ourselves "Monks of the Internet"! What about you? Care to join me?
Deacon John
p.s. Actually, I did find and join an Internet Monastery called "Invisible Monastery of Charity and Fraternity"

Mercedes Salisachs in 1950

Mercedes Salisachs, a Catalonian mother of five children, and also a woman of Letters well known in Spain, became an outstanding protagonist of theGarabandal event. She went to the famous little village four times, her first and overwhelming stay occurring during the Holy Week of April 1962. And quite understandably, since she was then to learn, at the end of the paschal vigil, through Mari-Loli but on behalf of the Blessed Virgin, that one of her sons, Miguel, a young talented artist-painter, killed in a car accident at the age of twenty-one, "was in heaven and that he was 'accompanying' her every day!"
[From 'Garabandal' Book, page 130]

This one little paragraph does not tell the whole story about Mercedes Salisachs. I read more about her and her trials in other books about Garabandal. It seems that after her son died she had stopped going to church or even praying, because she was upset with God for taking her son from her at such an early age. Many of us have lost children or loved ones, and we have questioned God with "Why did he or she die and leave me?" But most of us do not lose our faith and stop going to church, as a matter of fact, some of us are brought closer to God because of the death of a loved one. Mercedes wondered if her son was in heaven, and that drove her to go to Garabandal, in the hopes of finding out where he was, heaven or hell! So she asked the girls to ask the Blessed Mother about her son. Each time they asked, Our Lady ignored the question and did not answer. Little by little, as Mercedes watched the girls in ecstasy and saw them talking to Mother Mary, her faith started to return, but so did her conscience. It told her that she needed to go to confession, and she did. Well, guess what! As soon as Mercedes was back in good graces with God through the Sacrament of Confession, that's when Our Lady told the girls that Mercedes' son "was in heaven and that he was 'accompanying' her every day!"

A great story and a good lesson for us. There's a time to be born, and a time to die! But we really never die, we just pass on to a New Life in God, [Our Lady said "it's like walking from one room to another."] and we never leave our loved ones who stay here on earth. We will be able to see them and pray for them while we await their day to fly to heaven. The saints say that as long as the person on earth is in a 'state of grace', our family members in heaven can see us! That's another reason to keep ourselves free of mortal sin, praise God!
