A LETTER FROM CONCHITA to GARABANDAL WORKERS (1971)

This story is as appropriate today as it

was when first told in 1971

 
“Walking is to suffer ….
resting is to be happy”

 

Ave Maria
Dear Workers of
the Blessed Virgin
Although these words are
only mine, accept them on faith
as representing the wish of the
Blessed Virgin for each one of
us. Fulfill and make others fulfill
the Message by your example,
prayers and words. We are now
nearing the last times.
God’s Messages to us are not
(only) things to remember and
admire. We must fulfill them
and spread them. The harvest
is great and the time very short.
Christian unity is necessary
among the workers. Through it,
you receive more graces from
God.
He who seeks God will
always find Him. One can find
Him in church as well as at
a dance, in a drunken person
and a drug addict as well as in
a priest. It only depends upon
the love and confidence that the
person feels for God.
Do you want to be happy?
Then retire alone with God for
a few minutes. Place yourself
in the presence of God and
of your own soul. Then with
utter sincerity, recognize your
faults. Ask God for the grace
to overcome them and try with
all your strength day after day,
moment by moment, to correct
them. Then you will begin to
feel completely happy. Your
faults are the only things that
will make you feel miserable
and unhappy. Also, in your
moments of intimacy with God,
remember the qualities that God
has given you. Put them to good
use, and give Him thanks. I
assure you whoever reads these
lines that you will be happy.
Remember that this life is a
journey where the trail we must
follow has been blazed by the life
of Christ. Do you suffer? Fine,
Christ goes before you. Carry
your suffering with joy because
when you suffer, God is closer
to you. Are you happy? That is
fine, too. It provides a rest on
your journey. You have to reach
the goal in this way, walking
and resting. Walking is to suffer,
and resting is to be happy. The
goal is heaven, the house of the
Father where the Blessed Virgin
waits with outstretched arms to
receive you and admit you very
quickly. She will not let St Peter
detain you very long. She, with
her mother’s heart, will quickly
obtain the eternal happiness you
seek.
Give God your will and
ask the Blessed Virgin never
to permit you to do anything
contrary to God’s designs for
you. Ask her also to teach you
to be happy and to smile in your
suffering. Pray for me.

PLANNING A VISIT TO GARABANDAL?

Before leaving Spain after touring around Cantabria and Austria, we spent 3 days at La Pisa, a family run guest house, in the pretty, picturesque village of Aniezo, close to the ancient village waterwheel ("la pisa") that gives the hotel its name. Amazingly, we discovered that Aniezo was in a more temperate valley, just behind the next ridge of mountains standing behind Garabandal. The homely, comfortable accommodation is owned by John and Gwyneth from England and offers a warm hospitality, open log fire and really good food. It is well worth a stay if visiting Garabandal.

An added attraction, unknown to us at the time, was a yearly procession of the statue of Our Lady taken to the village church in Aniezo from a shrine in the mountain (Our Lady of Light), and carried by foot in the longest Marian procession in Spain, covering 24 kilometres through beautiful areas of Liebana to the monastery of Santo Toribo, and back again.

50th Anniversary of "The Little Miracle!"

Today is the 50th of " The Little Miracle". July 19, 1962, a visible miracle happened which had been announced in advance. Conchita was given communion by the ArchAngel Michael, and when Conchita put out her tongue all of a sudden a host appeared. There were many people around her and one man had a movie camera and got some pictures of the event, at around 1:00 AM.

Fr. Ramon Andreu's Notes: Part Two, Post 30

San Sebastián on June 20, 1962

Dear Maximo, only four words to tell you the message that the Virgin told us yesterday, June 19th. The Virgin has told us that we don’t await the punishment but without waiting for it, it will come because the world has not changed and no one is paying attention because the world is worse and we have to change a lot, but it has not changed at all. Prepare yourselves and confess because the punishment is coming soon and the world continues the same, the world has not changed at all, and it is a shame that it does not change soon because a large punishment is coming if we don’t change. Since you have changed, don’t be afraid. We have to say this to everyone even Fr. Andreu. This message was told to Jacinta and me. A very tight hug to Araceli and Rolf, and a loving salutation from—

Dear Fr. Ramón, although you haven’t answered me, I’m writing to you because I think about you a lot and I would like you to come here. This that you see in Maximo’s letter is for the whole world, so that we will be better, and when you return I’ll tell you everything the Virgin has told us. A very tight hug from—

Dear Fr. Rolando,
     I unite myself to the 50 years celebration since the events at Garabandal took place. For me, it marks the 50th anniversary of having contemplated the greatest beauty in this world. I give thanks to God for having been part of such an experience, impossible to describe, but which sealed in my soul a sure Faith, full of hope. Thank you, Fr. Rolando for having given me the opportunity of repeating the Message of Our Mother, there, in the village. The Angel said,

    "Because My Message of October 18 was not carried out and made known, I will tell you that this is the last one.
Before the Cup was full; now it is overflowing. Priests, Bishops, and Cardinals are on the path to perdition and they are taking many souls with them. Less and less importance is being given to the Eucharist. We must ward off the wrath of God with our efforts. If you ask forgiveness sincerely with all your soul, He will forgive you. I, your Mother, through the intercession of the Archangel Michael, want to tell you that these are the last warnings. I love you very much and do not want your condemnation.
     Pray to Us sincerely and We will give you what you ask. You must offer more sacrifices. Think of the Passion of Jesus.”

    Fr. Rolando, I cannot tell you anything more important than the Message of Our Mother.
