The Coming Dominion of the Church

IN Evil, Too, Has a Name, I wrote that the goal of Satan is to collapse civilization into his hands, into a structure and system rightly called "a beast." This is what St. John the Evangelist described in a vision he received where this beast causes "all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave" to be forced into a system whereby they cannot buy or sell anything without a "mark" (Rev 13:16-17). The prophet Daniel also saw a vision of this beast similar to St. John’s (Dan 7:-8) and interpreted a dream of King Nebuchadnezzar in which this beast was seen as a statue made up of different materials, symbolic of different kings who form alliances. The context for all of these dreams and visions, while having dimensions of fulfillment in the prophet’s own time, is also for the future:

Understand, O son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end. (Dan 8:17)

A time when, after the beast is destroyed, God will establish His spiritual kingdom to the ends of the earth.

While you looked at the statue, a stone which was hewn from a mountain without a hand being put to it, struck its iron and tile feet, breaking them in pieces… In the lifetime of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed or delivered up to another people; rather, it shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and put an end to them, and it shall stand forever. That is the meaning of the stone you saw hewn from the mountain without a hand being put to it, which broke in pieces the tile, iron, bronze, silver, and gold. (Dan 2:34, 44-45)

Both Daniel and St. John elucidate further on the identity of this beast as a conglomeration of ten kings, which is then divided when another king rises out of them. Several Church Fathers have understood this solitary king to be the Antichrist who emerges from a reformed Roman Empire.

But again, this beast is defeated…

…his dominion shall be taken away… (Dan 7:26)

…and given to the saints of God:

Then the kingship and dominion and majesty of all the kingdoms under the heavens shall be given to the holy people of the Most High, whose kingdom shall be everlasting: all dominions shall serve and obey him… I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast or its image nor had accepted its mark on their foreheads or hands. They came to life and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years. (Dan 7:27; Rev 20:4)

However, if we understand the Early Church Fathers correctly, the vision of these prophets pertains not to the everlasting kingdom at the end of the world, but to a dominion within time and history, a kingdom reigning universally in the hearts of men:

We do confess that a kingdom is promised to us upon the earth, although before heaven, only in another state of existence; inasmuch as it will be after the resurrection for a thousand years in the divinely-built city of Jerusalem… —Tertullian (155–240 A.D.), Nicene Church Father; Adversus Marcion, Ante-Nicene Fathers, Henrickson Publishers, 1995, Vol. 3, pp. 342-343)

A man among us named John, one of Christ’s Apostles, received and foretold that the followers of Christ would dwell in Jerusalem for a thousand years, and that afterwards the universal and, in short, everlasting resurrection and judgment would take place. —St. Justin Martyr, Dialogue with Trypho, Ch. 81, The Fathers of the Church, Christian Heritage

THE BLOSSOMING KINGDOM

Through Christ’s resurrection and ascension into Heaven, His kingdom was established:

Being seated at the Father’s right hand signifies the inauguration of the Messiah’s kingdom, the fulfillment of the prophet Daniel’s vision concerning the Son of man: "To him was given dominion and glory and kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed" (cf. Dan 7:14). After this event the apostles became witnesses of the "kingdom [that] will have no end". —Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 644

And yet, Christ taught us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…" That is, the kingdom has been inaugurated, but not yet fully established on earth. Jesus explains this in parables whereby He compares the kingdom to a seed planted in the ground, which does not spring up instantly:

…first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. (Mark 4:28)

And again,

To what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it? It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade. (Mark 4:30-32)

HEAD AND BODY

Daniel 7:14 says there came one "like a son of man… to him was given dominion." This was fulfilled in Christ. But then, in seeming contradiction, Daniel 7:27 says that this dominion was given to "the holy people" or "saints."

The dignity of all mankind is restored through this son of man’s triumph over the beasts. This figure, as we will discover later, stands for "the people of the saints of the Most High" (7:27), that is, faithful Israel. —The Navarre Bible Texts and Commentaries, The Major Prophets, footnote p. 843

This is not a contradiction in the least. Christ reigns in Heaven, butwe are His Body. What the Father bestows upon the Head, He bestows also upon the Body. The Head and the Body form the whole "son of man." Just as we complete what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ (Col 1:24), so too, we share in the triumph of Christ. He will be our judge, and yet, we will also judge with him (Rev 3:21). Thus, the Body of Christ shares in the establishment of the kingdom of God to the ends of the earth.

This gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, as a testimony to all nations; and then the end will come. (Matt 24:14)

The Catholic Church, which is the kingdom of Christ on earth, [is] destined to be spread among all men and all nations… —POPE PIUS XI, Quas Primas, Encyclical, n. 12, Dec. 11th, 1925

TEMPORAL KINGDOM

Jesus reminded His Apostles that His kingdom was not of this world (John 18:36). So how do we understand the coming dominion of the Church during a "thousand year" reign, or Era of Peace as it is more frequently called? It is a spiritual reign in whichall nations will obey the Gospel.

Those who on the strength of this passage [Rev 20:1-6], have suspected that the first resurrection is future and bodily, have been moved, among other things, specially by the number of a thousand years, as if it were a fit thing that the saints should thus enjoy a kind of Sabbath-rest during that period, a holy leisure after the labors of six thousand years since man was created… (and) there should follow on the completion of six thousand years, as of six days, a kind of seventh-day Sabbath in the succeeding thousand years… And this opinion would not be objectionable, if it were believed that the joys of the saints, in that Sabbath, shall be spiritual, and consequent on the presence of God… —St. Augustine of Hippo (354-430 A.D.; Church Doctor), De Civitate Dei, Bk. XX, Ch. 7, Catholic University of America Press

It is a spiritual era in which the Divine Will of God will reign "on earth as it is in Heaven."

Here it is foretold that his kingdom will have no limits, and will be enriched with justice and peace: "in his days shall justice spring up, and abundance of peace…And he shall rule from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth"… When once men recognize, both in private and in public life, that Christ is King, society will at last receive the great blessings of real liberty, well-ordered discipline, peace and harmony… for with the spread and the universal extent of the kingdom of Christ men will become more and more conscious of the link that binds them together, and thus many conflicts will be either prevented entirely or at least their bitterness will be diminished. —POPE PIUS XI, Quas Primas, n. 8, 19; Dec. 11th, 1925

…then at length will many evils be cured; then will the law regain its former authority; peace with all its blessings be restored. Men will sheathe their swords and lay down their arms when all freely acknowledge and obey the authority of Christ, and every tongue confesses that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father. —POPE LEO XIII, Annum Sanctum, May 25th, 1899

Pius XI and Leo XIII, speaking in the name of all their predecessors since St. Peter, present a vision long prophesied in Sacred Scripture, promised by Christ, and echoed among the Church Fathers: that the Church will one day enjoy a temporal reign of peace and harmony throughout the entire world, in…

...the vastness of the regions which have yet to be subjected to the sweet and saving yoke of our King. —POPE PIUS XI, Quas Primas, n. 3; Dec. 11th, 1925

While it will be "a kingdom that shall never be destroyed or delivered up to another people," it too is "not of this world"—not a political kingdom. And since it is a reign within the boundaries of time, and men’s freedom to choose evil will remain, it is a period in which its influence, but not its essence, will come to an end.

When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison. He will go out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth… (Rev 20-7-8)

This final upheaval will occur only after the Era has served its primary purpose: to bring the Gospel to the very ends of the earth. Then, and only then, will the everlasting and permanent kingdom of God reign in a New Heavens and a New Earth.

The kingdom will be fulfilled, then, not by a historic triumph of the Church through a progressive ascendancy, but only by God’s victory over the final unleashing of evil, which will cause his Bride to come down from heaven. God’s triumph over the revolt of evil will take the form of the Last Judgment after the final cosmic upheaval of this passing world. —CCC, 677

EVIL HAS A NAME

In a letter to the late Thomas Merton, Catherine de Hueck Doherty wrote:

For some reason I think you are weary. I know I am frightened and weary too. For the face of the Prince of Darkness is becoming clearer and clearer to me. It seems he does not care any more to remain "the great anonymous one," the "incognito," the "everyone." He seems to have come into his own and shows himself in all his tragic reality. So few believe in his existence that he does not need to hide himself anymore!—Compassionate Fire, The Letters of Thomas Merton and Catherine de Hueck Doherty, March 17th, 1962, Ave Maria Press, p. 60. Oh, dear Baroness, if you were alive today! What would you say to us now? What words would pour forth from your mystical, prophetic heart?

Evil has a name. And his name is Satan.

Yes, some theologians have done a neat job of dismissing this fallen angel as pure myth, a mere literary technique to explain the dimensions of suffering and darkness in our world. Yes, Satan has been fortunate to have convinced even some members of the clergy to expel the truth of his existence, so much so, that to even suggest that there is a devil draws the snorts and mockery of some theologically "enlightened."

But this should surprise no one. The best enemy is a hidden one. But only hidden for so long as it waits to spring forth at the opportune moment. And that moment, brothers and sisters, has finally come.

HIDDEN

As I wrote in my book, The Final Confrontation, the battle between the Woman and the dragon of Revelation 12 began a pivotal phase in history in the 16th century. It was then that the dragon, Satan, the ancient serpent, began his end-game assault on the Woman-Church, not immediately through the violence of martyrdom, but through something more deadly: poisoned philosophy. The dragon remained hidden behind the intellects of men, suffusing them little by little with sophistries—lies and deceptions—that began to move society, and even thinkers within the Church, slowly away from their center: life in God. These deceptions, hidden under the form of "isms" (eg. deism, scientism, rationalism, etc.), continued throughout the following centuries, mutating and evolving, pushing the world further and further away from belief in God until they finally began to take on their most deadly forms of "communism," "atheism," and "materialism," of "radical feminism," "individualism," and "environmentalism." Still, the dragon has remained somewhat hidden behind these "isms", despite their bloody fruits, even brutal fruits.

But now, the hour has come for the dragon to explode from his lair. Even now, few realize this, for many "Christians" fail to perceive that there is a dragon. But many will come to believe when, like a thief in the night, the dragon descends upon humanity in all his force:

He was a murderer from the beginning… he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44)

When Jesus spoke these words, He was prophesying this present and coming battle, warning us as to the modus operandi of the enemy: a liar with the intent to murder. It is a battle for the inheritance of the earth, a battle to decide whose kingdom shall prevail—that of the "son of perdition" (Antichrist), of that of the Son of Man (and His Body):

…the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth, to devour her child when she gave birth. She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod. (Rev 12:4-5)

REVEALED

The goal of Satan is to collapse civilization into his hands, into a structure and system rightly called "a beast." The goal in part is to not only control all aspects of his subject’s lives, but to reduce the population of the world. This is being accomplished through his minions: men and women who often belong to "secret societies" who operate, perhaps unknowingly, as the instruments of the Prince of Darkness:

There is in Italy a power which we seldom mention in this House… I mean the secret societies… It is useless to deny, because it is impossible to conceal, that a great part of Europe—the whole of Italy and France and a great portion of Germany, to say nothing of other countries—is covered with a network of these secret societies, just as the superficies of the earth are now being covered with railroads. And what are their objects? They do not attempt to conceal them. They do not want constitutional government; they do now want ameliorated institutions… they want to change the tenure of land, to drive out the present owners of the soil and to put an end to ecclesiastical establishments. Some of them may go further… —Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, addressing the parliamentary House, July 14th, 1856;Secret Societies and Subversive Movements, Nesta H. Webster, 1924.

They scoff; they speak with malice; from on high they plan oppression. They have set their mouths in the heavens and their tongues dictate to the earth. (Psalm 73:8)

Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it. —U.S. President Woodrow Wilson, The New Freedom, 1913

Today, these "secret" voices now speak openly in favor of reducing the world’s populations, of forcing sterilization, of eliminating or facilitating the death of the "unwanted" or those who do not want to live. In a word, the chastisements coming upon the world areman-made—the seals of Revelation (6:3-8)—orchestrated war, economic collapse, pandemics and famine. Yes, orchestrated.

By the envy of the devil, death came into the world: and they follow him that are of his side. (Wis 2:24-26; Douay-Rheims)

LISTEN TO THE PROPHETS!

At the forefront, prophetically warning the Church of this coming hour, was no less than the Holy Father himself:

The Pharaoh of old, haunted by the presence and increase of the children of Israel, submitted them to every kind of oppression and ordered that every male child born of the Hebrew women was to be killed (cf. Ex 1:7-22). Today not a few of the powerful of the earth act in the same way. They too are haunted by the current demographic growth… Consequently, rather than wishing to face and solve these serious problems with respect for the dignity of individuals and families and for every person’s inviolable right to life, they prefer to promote and impose by whatever means a massive programme of birth control. —POPE JOHN PAUL II,Evangelium Vitae, “The Gospel of Life”, n. 16

The new messianists, in seeking to transform mankind into a collective being disconnected from his Creator, will unknowingly bring about the destruction of the greater portion of mankind. They will unleash unprecedented horrors: famines, plagues, wars, and ultimately Divine Justice. And if there is to be a persecution, perhaps it will be then; then, perhaps, when we are all of us in all parts of Christendom so divided, and so reduced, so full of schism, so close upon heresy. Yes, evil has a name. And now it has a face: exitium.

DO NOT BE AFRAID!

As we watch the signs of these times unfold before our very eyes, we must remember that the Woman escapes the dragon’s mouth. That God’s providence is always with His Church whom He will never abandon. Hence, this same prophet, John Paul II, repeatedly encouraged us: "Do Not Be Afraid." And so it is imperative to be sure that you are part of that true Church; that you are in a state of grace by frequent Confession, reception of the Holy Eucharist, and a life of faith connected to the Vine, who is Christ Jesus. His Mother, the Woman-Mary, has been given to us in these times to crush the dragon in our personal lives by carrying us in her bosom to her Son. She does this best, it seems, through our union to her in the Holy Rosary.

Yes, I believe if Catherine Doherty were alive today, she would tell us also: Don’t be afraid… but stay awake! In her thick Russian accent, I can almost hear her saying now…

Why are you asleep? What are you looking at if you cannot see the times you are in? Get up! Get up, soul! Don’t be afraid of anything except falling asleep! Repeat the name of Jesus, His Name, His powerful Name. His Name which overcomes all obstacles, which extinguishes all passions, and crushes every serpent. With the name of Jesus on your lips, look out the window at the gathering clouds, and with every confidence, speak His Name into the wind! Speak it now, and unleash into the streams of sorrow flooding the earth the true healing balm that every soul is longing for. Speak the Name of Jesus to every soul you meet, through your eyes, your words, your actions. Become the living Name of Jesus!

Garabandal Forum

Hello
I was told by a reliable friend
who went on pilgrimage to Lourdes,
Garabandal and Fatima six months
ago, that the accompanying priest
said that the Vatican has lifted the
sanctions on priests and bishops
discussing Garabandal.
The priest reminded everyone
that the Warning would not happen
until the sanctions on discussing
Garabandal had been lifted.
Also, is it true that the Pope is
supposed to visit Moscow and then
hostilities are to break out upon his
arrival back to Rome? Could this be
true and if yes, how could I fi nd out
more about this?

by a friend is not correct. The facts
are as follows: In 1966, the Holy See
abolished Canons 1399 and 2318
which dealt with private revelations.
This made it permissible to visit and
promote places of alleged apparitions
like Garabandal, provided faith and
morals were not jeopardized. In
January 1987, Bishop del Val issued a
new directive where priests who visit
Garabandal were free to celebrate
Mass on their own in the village
church, removing the restrictions that
were imposed in 1962. Archbishop

priests to visit Garabandal, to
say Mass and hear confessions.
The present Bishop Zamora has
maintained the same position and has
invited anyone to bring forward any
new information on Garabandal.
I have heard this rumour about
the Pope visiting Moscow and then
hostilities are to break out on his
return to Rome. I think this may have
come from another source. Our Lady
did say “the Warning will occur
when things (events) are at their
worst”. She also said Russia would
be converted as a result of the Miracle
and the Pope would see the Miracle
from wherever he is.

HAS COMMUNISM RETURNED AS A PUNISHMENT?

Although we continued to see the Blessed Virgin we saw a great multitude of people who suffered greatly and screamed in anguish. The Virgin explained to us how this GREAT PUNISHMENT would come, because there would come a moment a time in which the Church would seem to perish, as if it were finished or disappearing. The Church would suffer a great trial! We asked the Virgin how this GREAT PUNISHMENT would be called and She said it was called COMMUNISM.
 
Also, she made us see how the great chastisement for all humanity would come and how it comes directly from God. In a certain moment not a single motor or machine will function. A terrible heat wave will come, and men will suffer a burning thirst. Desperately they will look for water but with the intense heat it will evaporate. With this there will enter into the people a desperation and they will attempt to kill each other, but in those moments their strength will fail and they will fall to the ground. God then will make them see that IT IS HE who directly has permitted all this.
 
Finally we saw a multitude of people enveloped in flames - desperately they threw themselves into the seas and lakes but upon entering the water far from putting out the flames the water was boiling and seemed to help the flames burn more.
 
I asked the Blessed Virgin to take all our children with Her. But She said that when this happens they will all be adults.

Sick with Swine flu!

Just a note to let you all know that I've been very sick with this flu bug and that's the reason I haven't posted too much here.
